- Description
- Project managers are required to lead a team of professionally qualified and appropriately skilled people to effectively communicate the goals and course of action to the team, to allocate appropriate resources, to build the necessary reward structures to ensure adequate motivation and develop teamwork. The nature of project management would therefore suggest project managers require good leadership and human skills in order to maximise project performance. Emotional intelligence of project managers is particularly important as effective project managers meaningfully influence the behaviors, thoughts and feelings of those with whom they work. This paper investigates the framework of emotional intelligence for project managers in the construction industry as a project success factor. The findings of a pilot study indicate competent construction project managers have high emotional intelligence.
